Joan Spring – Secretary
Experience or reason for being on the board: I first became involved with Deepwood in 1994 as a volunteer on the Deepwood Industries Board. I served 16 years on that board holding offices of President, Vice President and Treasurer. I learned a lot about adult services, but now I am learning more about all services offered by LCBDD/Deepwood. I strongly support the programs offered to enrich the lives of persons with special needs...
Employment: I retired as Newsroom Business Manager from Fox 8 television in Cleveland after 25 years of service.
Involvement or volunteer activities with or in other Lake County Committees or agencies: Past volunteer with Lake County Council on Aging. Active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick holding positions of Recording Secretary, usher, past Ladies Aid President and serving on the planning committee. Regular platelet donor with the American Red Cross with over 150 triple donations. Volunteer at the Willowick Kiwanis Food Pantry.
Experience or reason for being on the board: My wife and I have four children, two of which are in the DD system. We have been involved as parent caregivers and advocatesin our County DD system for over 20 years. I wanted to make sure that families had a voice and that our system is responsive to their specific needs in caring for their loved one, meeting their individual needs.
Employment: I am the Executive Director ofPinnacle Partners, a not for profit shared services organization founded by three community behavioral health agenciesdedicated to improving the quality of behavioral health services in our communities. Involvement or volunteer activities with or in other Lake County Committees or agencies: My wife and I are members of the Lake County Association for Retarded Citizens
Experience or reason for being on the board: As a parent of a child with developmental disabilities and having been very involved at Broadmoor before I returned to teaching, I wanted to be actively a part of Deepwood again when I retired from teaching.
Employment: I am a retired first grade teacher having been employed by Mentor Schools.
Involvement or volunteer activities with or in other Lake County Committees or agencies: I am a member of the Finance Committee with the Board and am a Trustee on the Deepwood Foundation and am a member of the Foundation’s Benefits Committee.
Experience or reason for being on the board: Tremendous respect for the LCBDD and all they do for individuals with special needs.
