The individual generally benefits from visual supervision but can be alone for periods of time indoors. She would likely need modeling support for learning new tasks at first but takes pride in independence. She would also need transportation to her chosen program.

DESCRIPTION of INDIVIDUAL: This individual is a 35-year-old woman with Down’s syndrome. She is fully ambulatory and mostly verbal but may have trouble explaining what she is trying to say, though her words are clearly articulated. She loves to dance, swim, play sports, and generally be social and in the community. She also has periods where she will be self-critical but unable to explain why.

TRANSPORTATION NEEDS: non modified vehicle.
