DESCRIPTION of INDIVIDUAL: PROVIDER REQUIREMENTS: This individual is 8-year-old male who resides in Willowick. This child is an energetic, bright, and loving 8-year-old boy on the autism spectrum and is seeking a dependable, hands-on person. He is nonverbal but communicates through gestures and expressions. He thrives in structured, attentive, and safe environments where he can stay engaged and supported throughout his day. This is a shoe-free home, and the family is looking for a DSP who can provide undivided attention while on shift. The child is very curious and quick—it only takes seconds for him to access things like raw food or small items that shouldn’t go in his mouth, so attentiveness is key.
The family is seeking someone who is: Reliable, patient, and attentive (no phone use during shifts); Comfortable providing hands-on supervision and redirection when needed; Creative and willing to engage him in fun, safe activities both inside and outside the home. While most of the time will be spent inside the home (especially on school days), the family would love for him to have more community experiences once comfortable. He enjoys activities such as Chuck E. Cheese, indoor trampoline parks, and trips to the playground.
Responsibilities include: Assisting with morning routines and ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) to prepare for school. Providing after-school care, including help with ADLs, playtime, and supervision. Preparing or assisting with snacks and light meals as needed. Keeping him engaged through activities such as coloring, drawing, watching favorite shows and sensory play. Supporting safe community outings, such as swimming, trips to the park, jumping gyms, and Chuck E. Cheese. Maintaining vigilant supervision, as he can be quick to access items or attempt to elope from the home or in public, and occasionally tries to open windows
