Charlotte Gave Us Something to Sing About

Perry High School invited Charlotte to open their annual show choir event.

Charlotte Daprano opened the performance at the annual Buccaneers Show Choir event that took place Saturday, October 21, at the Perry High School Goodwin Theater.

Charlotte sang “This is Me”from The Greatest Showman during the 2023 Deepwood Idol competition, and this is her song of choice for the show choir performance. Deepwood Idol is unique in that all of the performers are eligible to receive services through the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood.

Charlotte has been singing since she was nine years old. She is inspired by music and enjoys bringing joy to people through her singing.

“Sometimes it feels like it is easier to sing than to talk,” said Charlotte. “I dedicate my performance to all people and hope to remind them to be proud of who they are.“

Perry High School Principal Todd Porcello said, “Opening our show choir event with a performance by Charlotte is an opportunity to share her unique talents with a larger community and exemplifies our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supporting environment for all.”

The event was open to the public and also included show choirs from Madison, Mentor, Geneva, Lakeside, and Grand Valley. Truly an inclusive community performance!

“All musicians deserve an audience,” said Elizabeth Singer, Perry High School Vocal Music Teacher. “The show choir festival is all about celebrating the hard work student musicians have put in to create and present their show. We are happy to include Charlotte in our evening lineup.”

“It’s uplifting to partner with our community to promote inclusion and illustrate the abilities of all individuals,” said Elfie Roman, Superintendent of the County Board.
