Mark your calendar for our next Lake County Advocacy Meeting on September 29, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. We will talk about library services and will learn about available programs and resources, take-home materials, and information on obtaining a library card. The meeting will be held at the Mentor Public Library located at 8215 Mentor Avenue in Mentor, Ohio. Aktion Club is a community service organization for adults with disabilities dedicated to making a positive impact in Lake County. This organization meets monthly and offers benefits of friendship, fellowship, fun, but most importantly extends the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of projects that help our community.

Join us at the Community Job Fair and Career Expo on October 7, 2026 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Mentor Paradigm, 6465 Center Street, Mentor, Ohio 44060. This event is free and open to the community. Employers will be in the main room to connect with job seekers and conduct onsite interviews.  This event is geared toward individuals who are actively job seeking so they can bring their resume and connect with employers who have job openings. Join us for our next Youth Empowerment Group meeting. Topics that may be covered include self-advocacy, independence, effective communication, and community participation. Participants must be Lake County students ages 14-22 years who are eligible for LCBDD services. Event takes place 5:30 - 6:30 PM at the Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood - Building C (VGC), 8121 Deepwood Blvd, Mentor, OH 44060. Questions/register by emailing Transition.Services@LakeBDD.org.

Did you know that the LCBDD is part of a regional employment group who is putting together an all-day event on October 14 about inclusive employment and employer engagement at the Winking Lizard Bedford Heights, 25200 Miles Rd, Bedford Heights, OH 44146 from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The program will include disability awareness and etiquette, an employer-focused fireside chat, SHRM regional partnership discussion, industry roundtables, The Paper Bag Plan, and regional breakout discussions focused on next steps. Are you a Guardian appointed by the Probate Court? If yes, you are required to obtain at least 3 hours of continuing education credits each year. We’re here to help! The Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood is now a Host Site for these classes and will present the courses as offered through the Ohio Supreme Court. Admission is free. Refreshments and drinks will be available. Participants must be at least 18 years old and eligible to receive county board services.
