Mark your calendar for our next Lake County Advocacy Meeting on April 28, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Mark your calendars to join us for a fun evening of dancing and friendship at the Footloose Friday Dance -- Nashville Nights. Friday, May 1, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Lake Metroparks Painesville Township Park, 1025 Hardy Road, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Admission is FREE. Refreshments and drinks will be available. Participants must be at least 18 years old and eligible to receive county board services. Arrive at the front entrance to review rules and sign in. RSVP required. The Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities' Employment Navigation team is excited to announce a new collaboration--Workforce Connection! Our mission is to connect inclusive employers with the professionals, organizations, and advocates who support job seekers with developmental disabilities. We strive to build partnerships that create meaningful, sustainable employment opportunities for all. We will be hosting meetings from 8:30-9:30 AM, with open networking taking place from 9:30-10:00 AM on May 6, August 5, and November 25, 2026. Meetings will be held at the Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood (Building C), located at 8121 Deepwood Boulevard in Mentor, Ohio. If you cannot attend in person you can join remotely via Zoom. Parents and current cheerleaders will also talk about the benefits they have experienced since joining Blaze Athletics. Join us for our next Youth Empowerment Group meeting. Topics that may be covered include self-advocacy, independence, effective communication, and community participation. Participants must be Lake County students ages 14-22 years who are eligible for LCBDD services. Times such as Mother's Day and Father's Day can be especially difficult for anyone grieving the loss of a parent, child, or caregiver. This gathering is designed to offer comfort, connection, and understanding.
