A Message from the Superintendent to all LCBDD Employees

April 2, 2020

A message from the Superintendent to all LCBDD employees…

During these challenging times, I want to let you know that you and your loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. I sincerely appreciate and thank you for the dedication, innovation, and flexibility I see throughout our Agency as we continue to provide the highest quality of services and supports for the individuals served by the LCBDD.

Some staff have needed to shift their job duties to support a different program area, while others were required to work remotely in an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Everyone, in every role, is managing change right now. Change is not easy, but you have all stepped forward to get the job done.

As you are aware, Governor DeWine recently ordered all schools to be closed until May 1, and the LCBDD Day Programs continue to remain closed as well. Although programs are closed, our individuals and families remain in need of our services and supports.

The safety and wellness of the individuals we serve and of our employees are paramount. As such, we will continue to diligently monitor and follow the recommendations of government and health officials.

As always through times of stress and change, we focus on minimizing the impact on the individuals we serve, and we have had to get creative in the way we deliver our supports. I’d like to applaud all of you for finding meaningful and creative ways to do so, and for keeping the individuals we serve at ARC and JCDC, as well as the individuals living and receiving supports in the community, safe and engaged.

Some of the strategies that have been employed – from the new School Home Connection videos to the Community Recreation Boredom Buster activities (and everything in between) – open our eyes to new tools we can use on an ongoing basis.

For our dedicated staff behind the scenes–I see and value the supports you provide to keep our buildings running, our technology working and our bills paid.

Thank you ALL for your dedication and understanding as we navigate together through these uncharted waters.  We’ve rallied as a team and embodied the “Deepwood Way” the past few weeks. I want you to know that I recognize and appreciate all that you do each and every day.
