Advocacy Series: Empowerment Through Connection

Topic: Financial Literacy, Benefits, & Employment

Join us for an interactive information session focused on financial wellness and understanding how employment can impact public benefits. This event will be held in-person, as well as a virtual option.

Representatives from Theory Federal Credit Union and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) will share valuable information, resources, and practical strategies to help individuals make informed financial decisions and better understand the relationship between work and benefits.

Discussion topics include:

• Budgeting basics
• Understanding credit and debit cards
• Avoiding fraud, scams, and unsafe
  online purchasing practices
• Financial safety and security
• STABLE accounts
• Social Security programs (SSI vs. SSDI)
• Protecting personal finances and recognizing
  financial exploitation
• Understanding the importance of carefully
  considering lending or giving money to others
• Theory Federal Credit Union resources
• Understanding how employment may affect
  benefits and learning strategies to successfully
  maintain benefits while working
