The annual Torch Run means that the Special Olympics Ohio Summer Games are just around the corner1 As tradition has it, the Special Olympics Lake County Coordinator Chris Bundy teamed up with local police to escort members of the Special Olympics cycling team while carrying the Flame of Hope through Lake County on June 10, 2025.We invite you to watch for posts that provide details and share photos of the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics @DeepwoodLakeDD. Special Olympic cyclists will make their way with police escort from a local Fire Station in Mentor, Ohio to the Deepwood Industries Willoughby Works program area at the LCBDD building located at 2100 Joseph Lloyd Parkway in Willoughby, Ohio for a festive gathering. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio (LETR) is a volunteer movement that was established by members of the law enforcement community to support Special Olympics. Each year, officers carry the Flame of Hope along with athletes across the state. The flame symbolizes courage, perseverance, and inclusion.

Aktion Club is a community service group sponsored by Kiwanis International, Aktion Club, is open to all adults living with disabilities who want to become community leaders and provide service for others. This organization offers benefits of friendship, fellowship and fun, but most importantly it extends the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of projects that help our community. Join us for our next Youth Empowerment Group meeting. Topics that may be covered include self-advocacy, independence, effective communication, and community participation. Participants must be Lake County students ages 14-22 years who are eligible for LCBDD services. Deepwood Idol is evolving to celebrate a wide array of talents beyond singing. Participants have the opportunity to show off their skills in dancing, comedy, magic tricks, playing musical instruments, and more. This exciting change aims to highlight the diverse abilities of individuals with developmental disabilities, providing them with a platform to Strive to Thrive in 2025! Deepwood Idol 2025 will take place on August 16, 2025 on stage at the Mentor Amphitheater, located at 8600 Munson Road in Mentor, Ohio during Mentor Cityfest. Calling all talented stars! This is your moment to shine. Whether you sing, dance, play an instrument, perform magic, or have another special talent, we want you to be part of this incredible showcase.
