Rylie is Rockin’ It with the Help of Early Intervention!

It’s such a joy when families share how Early Intervention (EI) enriches their lives and empowers young children. As a Provider to the Ohio Statewide EI System, the focus of EI is to assist a family in meeting the unique needs of their child. Family-focused resources and supports are provided in naturally occurring learning environments, routinely at a child’s home.

Read below to hear from Ra’Jour Horton, Rylie’s parent, about how EI and supports from Developmental Specialists such as Lauren Miklos make a positive impact …

“Rylie was diagnosed with a rare genetic form of epilepsy called KCNQ2 at just three days old. After multiple hospital stays, countless EEGs, and daily medications, she is now thriving with the support of Early Intervention. We were introduced to Early Intervention during Rylie’s first week of life, though at the time we didn’t realize how valuable their services would be for her development.

With guidance from Developmental Specialist Lauren, Rylie has made amazing progress. She has helped her learn how to roll, crawl, climb, and now even walk—supporting Rylie through milestone after milestone. Lauren’s dedication has helped shape Rylie into the curious, energetic baby girl she is today.

Rylie loves to smile and laugh—she is truly a happy baby. Her favorite word is “cat,” inspired by her two furry friends at home who she loves to chase around.”
