Empowerment Extended Through Launch of Accessibility Toolbar on Website

The Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood is always searching for new ways to fulfill our mission. While revamping our website in 2020, we paid close attention to decisions pertaining to navigation, content, color contrast, font choice, and more to ensure we upheld ADA and accessibility standards.

We recognize that the internet can be an incredibly intimidating place for anyone with access barriers and someone who doesn’t have the tools they need to adequately understand or communicate are at a significant disadvantage.

Today, we are proud to announce the launch of the Accessibility Toolbar (reference the launch button image below) to improve the accessibility and language experience on our website. Website visitors are now able to customize their experience to best suit their individual needs by clicking on the launch button when on www.LakeBDD.org.

The Accessibility Toolbar includes a variety of features, such as a screen reader, reading aids, fully customizable styling options (changes to font size, type and color), and on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages including 65 text-to-speech. Doing so enables those who face online access barriers to take an active part in our digital world.

Please reference the Assistive Toolbar User Guide or contact Info@LakeBDD.org for more information.
