Broadmoor School’s Nature Art Walkathon is a Huge Success
On May 12, 2021, the Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood’s Broadmoor School ran a pretty creative fundraiser called the Nature Art Walkathon. The idea of the Nature Art Walk came from a group of parents, school staff and administrators who were looking for ways to celebrate the unique talents of our students, incorporate health and fitness, and raise money for the Broadmoor School community.
The students contributed their own personal artwork displayed around the school while the staff and students wheeled and walked around the building enjoying the view. Music, games, and entertainment added to the excitement of the event. Students contributed to the fundraising efforts by getting sponsors to donate money for their walking efforts. Students were awarded with nature bracelets for each lap around the school as well as celebratory applause for their efforts. Below is a video snapshot of the event.
Due the overwhelming generosity of our Broadmoor School community, we will be able to purchase educational technology, materials and resources that will enhance the learning opportunities for our very special student population.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! In addition to the amazing art display, we were able to raise $4,500. A special thanks to Tracie Levandusky for volunteering to take photographs at the event.
