Farewell to Two Dedicated Board Members
We recently bid farewell to two Board members–Tom Tarantino and Tom Hunter. We wish them best wishes in their future endeavors and thank them for their dedicated service and all that they have done to advance the mission of our Agency. To show our appreciation, we surprised them with some special gifts, unique to their interests.
Tom Tarantino was initially appointed to the County Board in 2010 and subsequently re-appointed for two additional terms, serving a total of 12 years. He served as Board President, Vice President, and a member of all Board committees. As a parent representative, Tom equally and justly advocated for all program areas and supports, and has chosen to continue as a staunch advocate by serving on the Deepwood Foundation Board.
As the sibling of an individual with a developmental disability, Tom Hunter inherited a passion for advocacy from his parents. He studied Special Education and became a teacher, workshop specialist, and habilitation specialist at the County Board spanning 14 years, and later a special education teacher at Madison Public Schools for 22 years. His lifelong advocacy of enhancing inclusion included serving on the County Board for 12 years, with membership on every Board committee and in Board executive capacities.
