Early Intervention in a Natural Environment Enhanced Madelyn’s Progress

Melissa describes that Broadmoor School’s approach to early intervention (EI) services in a natural/home environment helped her daughter Madelyn. Let’s hear more about their journey …

“Ohio Early Intervention has been such a huge help for my daughter, but also to me! About six months ago, Madelyn wasn’t really talking much for her age and I felt she didn’t understand much. I was slightly nervous because I didn’t know what to expect, but everyone was so kind and helpful.  It’s nice that everyone came to us, too. I feel like seeing us in our natural environment helped my daughter act less shy.

The evaluation team felt that a developmental specialist would be best to help my daughter. We were paired with Lauren Miklos (EI Developmental Specialist), who was nothing but helpful to us and super kind. With every improvement and milestone my daughter had, Lauren celebrated with me. You can tell she genuinely cared about my daughter. Everything Lauren gave us to work on, I made sure to work on and would give her weekly updates via email.

 My daughter has aged out of Ohio Early Intervention. A few months before our last visit, EI even helped set up a preschool evaluation, which was nice (and one less worry for me). Early Intervention is an excellent program and has been extremely helpful to us and I can’t thank them enough–especially Lauren!”
