Recognizing and Responding to Medical Emergencies

Direct Support Professionals play a critical role in the event a life saving measure is needed, and can prevent harm when they have a clear understanding of how changes in a person’s behavior, habits and physical condition can be a sign of a greater healthcare crisis.

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities recently released its Health & Welfare Alert as a means to educate DSPs (and all readers) on how to recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
