The Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities / Deepwood is hosting the next Footloose Friday Dance on October 6, 2023. The "
Halloween Monster Mash Bash" will take place at Lake Metroparks Painesville Township Park located at 1025 Hardy Road from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

The Improvaneer Method uses improvisation to build skills that will greatly increase social, lifetime, and workplace opportunities for individuals who have  developmental disabilities. Improv builds quick and easy thinking, listening focus, eye contact, teamwork, voice projection, problem solving, attention to detail, character development, plus an increase in self-confidence. Two Opportunities to Get Involved:

Watch a Free Performance by Current Cast on October 8 at 3:00PM at Willoughby Fine Arts Association (38660 Mentor Avenue in Willoughby). Seating is limited. Register (with names and number attending) to David at dmalinowski@fineartsassociation.org. Attend an ImprovaGanza Workshop on October 21 9:00AM session for youth and a 1:00PM session for adults at Broadmoor School (8090 Broadmoor Road in Mentor). Broadmoor School, Adult Day Programs, and Administrative Offices are closed in observance of the holiday.

Mark your calendar for our next Lake County Advocacy Meeting on October 10, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM to discuss Community Employment. The meeting will be held at the Community Employment Services group employment site in The Aula Room at the Center for Pastoral Leadership (CPL), located at 28700 Euclid Ave in Wickliffe OH 44092. The Lake County Board is partnering with Service for Independent Living (SIL) for a youth empowerment group. Topics that may be covered include self advocacy, independence, effective communication, and community participation. Participants must be Lake County students ages 14-22 years who are eligible for LCBDD services.

Does your company have job openings? Are you interested in assisting individuals find meaningful employment in Lake County? Join the Lake County Employment Network! Meetings are held quarterly on the third Tuesday of the month at 2:00 PM at the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood located at 8121 Deepwood Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060. What to expect:

Hour 1: Intro to The Improvaneer Method: Dive into the world of improvisation and learn the basics of our unique method.
Hour 2: Improv and Performance: Unleash your creative side as we explore improve and performance together.
Hour 3: Showcase and Q&A: Show off what you’ve learned and take part in some entertaining improve games. We’ll also answer questions and share insights!
