Art Unveiling and Art Contest Awards Celebration March 5, 2019 6:00 – 7:30 pm. On March 5, 2019, we will host an Art Unveiling and Art Contest Awards Celebration at the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood – VGC building located at 8121 Deepwood Blvd in Mentor. This is a free event that is open to the public. Designed to kickoff Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the evening aims to celebrate artistic talent and promote commUNITY through the lens of creativity. Talk to some of the artists and hear firsthand about what inspired their art, and converse with community peers to discuss your unique interpretations of the artwork. You will be able to view the large canvas artworks that were contributed by each program area, as well as all of the entries submitted to our Agency Art Contest.

Fire at Mentor Group Home
Dec 21, 2018
We commend the efforts of New Avenues to Independence (NAI) staff in the heroic effort to safely evacuate the three gentlemen living at the Heisley House. Throughout the day, the dedicated, collaborative and expedient efforts of landlord North Coast Community Homes (NCCH), provider NAI Administration and staff, LCBDD Administration and Service and Support staff, and the outpouring of generosity from our Lake County community, together succeeded in securing and preparing another home for the gentlemen to move into that very same evening. Our Lake County partners and community are truly exceptional in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities!
Parent Guardian Annual Input Meeting
Nov 14, 2018
As we approach the end of the year, it is time for all of the program areas at the Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood to begin to prepare for the development of annual goals for the upcoming year. The Agency would like to obtain your input on the services that it provides both directly and indirectly. The input that we obtain will assist us in developing goals and objectives for all the departments. The DD system continues to be in a state of change and we need to ensure that we are planning for those changes while meeting the needs of the individuals we serve in Lake County.
Family Engagnement Series from DODD
Nov 09, 2018
Unlock Your Strength, Live Your Potential
The Family Engagement Series is designed to unlock your strength, build a foundation, and learn skills and strategies to manage family stressors. These hands-on sessions will teach you practical ways to manage pressure, patience, and learn creative ways to modify your existing methods of coping and caring for those you love.
The Family Engagement Series will be an opportunity for families to get personal and work together to solve common — and uncommon — family stressors. Moderators will work with each group’s real-life obstacles to find solutions that work for your entire family. Your presence is important because we cannot have these conversations without you.
